Being a grandparent is without question the best job in the world. We love having Jon with us and watching him grow and change. As enjoyable as it is to have your grandchild with you it is as much fun to watch your own children parent. I see my son and daughter-in-law interact with their son and you think back to when you were a young parent. These two are really wonderful parents. They are instilling love and joy in the heart of their child and he responds with love and joy.
Sure things are not easy and there is great uncertainty in their lives but they perservere with the love that God has given them and they are doing just great.
There is a lot of concern for the next generation of parents and children and we hear those who are concerned about bringing a child into today's world. And there may be some truth to the concern but at the same time there is great joy in bringing a life into the world and caring for that child. It is really hard to be selfish when that little life is almost totally dependant on you. I look at Jon and his parents and I know the next generation will do just fine.
